The machine stops printing when any of those consumables reaches its preset limit, not allowing prints/copies to be made until the exhausted!!? consumable is replaced by a new one. In order to have an effective control of the prints made by consumable units, most makers add electronic chips to them. These chips basically store some identification code and a print counter.
